NATOA, 17 Other Supporters, File Comprehensive National Broadband Comments with FCC

NATOA, joined by 17 other forward-thinking partners, has filed expansive and comprehensive comments regarding the creation of a National Broadband Plan with the Federal Communications Commission. These comments represent a vision of what America’s broadband future can become by adopting progressive policies in the public interest, and reflect the values and concerns of communities across our nation.NATOA was joined in the filing by the Alliance for Community Media (“ACM”), the National Capital Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (“CAPATOA”), Clackamas County, OR, the City of Eugene, OR, the Greater Metro Telecommunications Consortium, the County of Los Angeles, CA, the Marin Telecommunications Agency, the Metropolitan Area Communications Commission, Montgomery County, MD, the North Suburban Communications Commission,4 the City of Philadelphia, PA, the City of Portland, OR, the City of Rockville, MD, the City of Salisbury, NC, the Southeastern Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (“SEATOA”), the City of Seattle, WA, and the City of Takoma Park, MD.
The comments cover a wide range of issues, from how to define broadband capability and wireless service issues to open networks and competition policy considerations. The comments reflect and include NATOA’s Broadband Principles, and build off of much of our recent activity related to broadband (which are also listed in the appendix).
