NATOA Announces New Executive Director/General Counsel
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Alexandria, VA - (June 2, 2010) – The National Association of
Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA) today
announced the hiring of Stephen Traylor as its new Executive Director/General
Counsel. Mr. Traylor will assume his new
role with NATOA on July 1, 2010.
As Executive Director/General Counsel, Mr. Traylor will be responsible for continuing to promote NATOA as a leading voice for local government communications as well as the oversight and management of all aspects of the legal, legislative and policy activities of NATOA. “NATOA serves a unique and critical need for local governments as the communications landscape shifts towards broadband deployment and availability,” noted Mr. Traylor. “I look forward to working with the Board and NATOA’s members on the communications opportunities and challenges facing our nation’s communities and securing NATOA’s place at the forefront of these issues.”
Mr. Traylor has an extensive background in
legislative and regulatory work having served most recently as Associate
Legislative Director for the National Association of Counties. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Director,
Government Relations for NATOA with responsibilities for legislative and
regulatory matters, national organization collaboration and partnership and the
development and advocacy of public policy positions and materials.

NATOA as our new Executive Director/General Counsel,” noted NATOA President Ken
Fellman. “Steve is a proven leader and communicator,
with the experience and skills needed to successfully lead NATOA into the

The NATOA Executive Director/General Counsel Search
Committee was comprised of a committee of NATOA Board Members and a NATOA Past
President. The search was initiated in
early 2010 and candidates were screened through multiple in-person interviews
with the Search Committee and telephone interviews with the full Board, which
made the final selection.
