CAP Act Introduced
May 5, 2011 3:03 PM
On May 5, 2011, the Community Access Preservation (“CAP”) Act (HR 1746) was introduced by Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Congressman Steven LaTourette (R-OH). Among other things, the legislation removes the distinction between “capital” and “operating” uses of PEG support fees; ensures funding for PEG channels; requires cable operators to transmit PEG channels without charge to the local government; and requires the FCC to undertake a study of PEG operations. On May 17th, NATOA will be hosting a free eNATOA on the CAP Act. Among the participants are Amber Shipley, Senior Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin, and Daniel Cano, Legislative Assistant for Congressman Steven LaTourette.
