NATOA Congratulates Commissioner Mignon Clyburn on FCC Reappointment
January 2, 2013 1:46 PMFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – January 2, 2013 - The National Association of Telecommunications Officer and Advisors (NATOA) congratulates Commissioner Mignon Clyburn on her confirmation by the U.S. Senate to serve as Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission for a second term. She was approved for a full five-year term retroactive to July 1, 2012, when her current term expired.
“Commissioner Clyburn has worked tirelessly to ensure that all Americans benefit from advanced communications services,” noted NATOA President Joanne Hovis. “We applaud her confirmation for another term and look forward to working with her on issues of importance to local governments and our constituents.”
In 2011, NATOA awarded Commissioner Clyburn with NATOA’s Community Broadband Hero of the Year Award for her heroic efforts to stand up for the rights of North Carolina localities to determine their broadband and economic futures.
