The Government Programming Awards (GPAs) are annual awards that recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. Categories cover a variety of programming including, among others, community events, documentary, public affairs and public service, interview/talk show, performing arts, sports, election coverage and children’ s issues. Celebrating over 25 years of programming excellence, the GPA’s celebrate the achievements of government programmers across the nation.

2012 Important Dates
  • April 6, 2012 — All entries must be postmarked and sent to NATOA
  • April 6, 2012 — All payments for each entry must be received at NATOA
  • April 30 - June 18, 2012 — Judging Period
  • June 2012 — Finalists Notified
  • July 2012 — Clips due
  • September 29, 2012 — NATOA Awards Banquet in New Orleans, LA
Program must have been originally cablecast between April 3, 2011 and April 1, 2012.

When Are The GPAs Held?

The GPAs are an Annual Awards Program that is commenced in the early spring of each year, with judging over the summer months, and the award winners being celebrated at a gala event in conjunction with the NATOA Annual Conference.

How Do I Submit An Entry?

You will simply need to create a profile and submit your entry.  Payment for entries must be received by April 6, 2012.

When Will I Be Notified That I’ve Won?

Finalists are always notified in advance, so that they can attend the Government Programming Awards Gala held in conjunction with NATOA’s Annual Conference.
