Senate Passes Updated Version of DTV Delay Act

On the heels of the defeat of the first DTV Delay Act in the House, the Senate has passed a revised version of the Act.  The new version of the Act changes language regarding public safety use of vacated spectrum as well as the budgetary status of the Act.  The measure passed the Senate by unanimous consent, and is slated to be taken up by the House next week in the regular order.

The first effort to move the DTV transition date from February 17 to June 12 failed in the House because the bill did not garner the 2/3rds majority required when a bill is offered on suspension, an expedited process used in the House to limit amendments and quickly bring the matter up for a vote.  You can read the text of the new DTV Delay Act in PDF form here.
