Lawrence N. Cooper is a senior entertainment industry executive with 20+ years of experience and expertise in overseeing public and private media company business and legal affairs operations and negotiating transactions in the areas of music, television, film, and emerging media.
After 10 years as Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel of BET Networks/Viacom, Lawrence now serves as General Counsel of the DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment where he oversees the cable/regulatory group and all legal matters associated with the District's cable franchises, content distribution platforms (including PEG channels, a streaming channel and DC Radio) as well as agency initiatives to support sustainable entertainment and media industries and a thriving creative economy in the District of Columbia.
