Professional Bio
Roy Cantu is a Reporter/Producer for the McAllen Cable Network at the City of McAllen Office of Communications. Roy can be seen on Spectrum Channel MCN-1300, the government P.E.G. channel which provides programming involving innovative news magazine style shows, newscasts, public service announcements and stories which inform the community on city issues, projects, and events. Mr. Cantu is also a content creator who assists in the City of McAllen’s social media platforms.
Roy has more than 29 years of broadcast television, media relations, marketing, and public relations experience. The Office of Communications has won numerous awards at national and state associations including TAFE, IFEA, NATOA, TATOA and TAMIO. Prior to his career with the City of McAllen, Mr. Cantu was a news reporter for a CBS Affiliate, KGBT Channel 4. He also worked at KURV Talk Radio as a General Assignment Reporter. Roy is a graduate from the University of Texas Pan American with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.
