Professional Bio
Jackie Steven is a highly accomplished media arts professional with over 35 years
of experience in non-profit arts management, community media, audio & video
production, and broadcasting. A native of Washington, D.C., Jackie has been
deeply involved in the area’s creative community since she was a teenager. She
began her career at Arlington Independent Media (AIM) in 1986 where she served
as the Director of Community Programs until 2022. In that position, she oversaw
outreach, education, and commercial production services, and served for 15 years
as Festival Director of the organization’s Rosebud Film Festival. Additionally, she
was part of the leadership team that developed and launched WERA 96.7FM, a
community-based broadcast radio station. During her time at AIM, Jackie designed
media literacy and technology instruction programs for people of all ages, taught
production to thousands of area residents, and provided countless promotional
opportunities to filmmakers, artists, performers, and non-profit organizations.
Currently, Jackie is the Managing Director of Municipal Captioning, Inc. In this
role, she supports the CEO and a team of engineers and training specialists that
provide closed captioning, artificial intelligence, and content distribution solutions
to municipal governments, educational institutions, and community media
organizations. Jackie's unique combination of experience in production technology,
training, and project management has helped Municipal Captioning establish itself
as a leading service provider to Public, Educational, and Government broadcasters.
