Michael Martinez

Michael Lee Martinez is the Assistant Director of the Pharr Office of City Communications, where he has worked since 2022. A proud Rio Grande Valley native from Mercedes, Texas, Martinez received his Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from The University of Texas–Rio Grande Valley and brings experience in both television news and government communications.

Before joining the City of Pharr, Martinez worked as a News Producer at KRGV-TV and KBTX-TV and as a Floor Director at KGBT-TV. Since joining the City, he has helped bring home numerous government communications awards, including recognition from the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (NATOA), the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA), and the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO). His work includes media relations, social media, photography, video production, and telling the City’s stories in a clear, engaging, and relatable way.
