Erik Berg is a Senior Principal Engineer at Microsoft and an AI for Silicon architect within Azure's silicon organization. He leads efforts to develop AI-first engineering workflows for one of technology's most demanding disciplines: the design and verification of advanced silicon. Before joining Microsoft, Erik spent 19 years at Intel, where he developed deep expertise in verification and in the complex systems, tools, and organizational practices required to turn new technology into dependable engineering results. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
Erik's work focuses not only on what frontier AI models can do, but on what it takes for people and organizations to use them successfully: supplying the right context, designing intuitive experiences, creating auditable workflows, earning trust, and building durable systems that improve as models advance.
