The Director of Information Technology plans, organizes, and administers the operation of the City’s data processing system, including systems analysis, application systems design, and programming and computer operation. This position requires a strong leader and mentor, as they will be responsible for morale, productivity, and discipline of department staff. The ideal candidate offers excellent leadership qualities and has a track record of building and maintaining working relationships. The ability to plan, organize, administer, review, and evaluate systems development, programming, and computer operation activities is essential. Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, information systems, business or public administration, or a closely related field; and six (6) years of management, supervisory, or administrative experience. Experience in a public agency setting and in information systems design, implementation and operations in a centralized mainframe operating environment is desirable. A Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business, public administration, or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of non-supervisory experience. Extensive experience in Information Systems Management may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
The annual salary range for the Director of Information Technology is $157,159.68 to $200,551.44; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
