The County of San Diego has a current opening for MULTIMEDIA DESIGNER
This Multimedia Designer position is in the County Communications Office which supports and advances a wide variety of visual communications and services. This position uses creativity and collaboration to make the most of all tools and technology to inform the public about County government. The Multimedia Designer will use video, audio, graphics and photography to create informational and impactful content for broadcast television, social media, websites, presentations and other formats. The position will also consult on video and other multimedia projects for County departments, or act as liaison to technical staff and vendors.

The ideal candidate will be creative and versatile, with experience in a variety of visual communications mediums including video, audio, photography, graphics, animation and web. The candidate will have enthusiasm for providing citizens and colleagues an excellent customer experience and be committed to continuously developing new and innovative ways to produce content to inform the public. In addition, the ideal candidate will have the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment among multiple projects to execute production demands efficiently. Excellent computer and presentation skills are also desired.

The ideal candidate’s skills will include a broad variety of the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge and prior experience in video production in the field and for television production including lighting, audio and camera use
  • Demonstrated knowledge and prior experience in video editing software, including Final Cut Pro X and/or Adobe Premiere Pro
  • Demonstrated knowledge and prior experience shooting with DSLR video cameras
  • Demonstrated knowledge and prior experience in motion graphics
  • Demonstrated knowledge and prior experience in Adobe After Effects and Photoshop
  • Experience creating social media content for professional purposes
  • Experience creating digital and print graphics
  • Basic understanding of web analytics
  • Experience working with a CMS

A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in graphic design, web design, multimedia design, visual communications or a closely related field AND three (3) years of recent full-time, professional experience in one or more of the areas listed: web design, graphic arts and digital video editing.
Note: Recent work experience is defined as work experience within the past five (5) years. Education and or work experience in web design, graphic arts, digital video editing and/or related work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Qualified applicants will be placed on a nine (9) month eligible list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental applications.
