Future of Public Safety Communications
Public safety communications are entering a decisive transition period. FirstNet, which was built on dedicated Band 14 spectrum and backed by statutory coverage and resiliency obligations, helped modernize mission-critical LTE a decade ago. But the technology landscape has changed in the decade since FirstNet was created with the evolution of 5G networks. Verizon and T-Mobile now field competitive public-safety offerings built on 5G, network slicing, and priority/preemption mechanisms that didn’t exist when FirstNet was conceived. The result: local governments must navigate a far more complex, and far less obvious set of tradeoffs when considering which providers to utilize in their communities.

This webinar provides a comparison of the technical and operational models shaping public safety communications for the next decade.
